History
To create the brand Camolas, the founder used as reference its family name, one of the most emblematic in our region. The Camolas Grande Escolha it’s a very special wine for our winery, and it’s the result of the vinification of the Fernão Pires grape variety, harvested from our oldest vineyard, planted in 1931 on sandy soils, and following the tradition of the epoch, its a vineyard without the grape trellis, and where the plants are not organized in a straight line, making it impossible to use machinery in the vineyard. The goal was to create a wine that represents the Fernão Pires grape variety, and the Palmela region at its best. A wine from a really old vineyard.
Wine Pairing
Goes well with fish dishes baked in the oven specially cod “à Gomes de Sá” (Portuguese recipe) and poultry meat hunting.
Winemaker Notes
This white wine, produced from the Fernão Pires grape variety, harvested from our oldest vineyard planted in 1931, was vinified by the traditional method of tanning in stainless steel vats, with controlled temperature at 18º C, of intensity throughout the vinification in order to extract the aromas and the desired structure. Aged for 12 months in Hungarian oak and 24 months in stainless steel deposit. It presents itself with golden and amber color, complex aromas of dried fruits, fine spices, honey and cistus, lightly toast in the mouth and very fresh and austere vegetable nuances, with a wide, unctuous and intense mouth at its end.
