History
Internationally acknowledged for its quality and authenticity, and influenced by the unique geographic and climate conditions of the Península of Setúbal region, the Moscatel Roxo, is a spirit wine produced uniquely in the region (demarcated since 1907) were the grape variety is originated. Practically extinct in the 50’s of the past century, it has been replanted especially in the last decade. The production is still very scarce and limited, which makes of this Moscatel a very unique product.
Wine Pairing
Its character makes it ideal and very versatile to drink as aperitif paired with dried nuts or buttery fat cheeses. As a dessert, it matches perfectly with the Portuguese Conventual Confectionery (pastries or sweets based on egg yolks and sugar)
Winemaker Notes
Moscatel Roxo of Setúbal presents a bright aspect, of a dark golden topaz colour. On the nose, the floral aromas, the dried nuts, honey, raisins and caramel are highlighted. All of them are characteristic of this grape variety. The aftertaste is very persistent and is the outcome of a great balance between sweetness and acidity that contribute to an elegant, complex, fresh and vibrant spirit wine. Susceptible to the formation of deposit and turbidity.
